JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Intermodal Operations team in market planning, carrier management, equipment positioning & distribution, and other projects as assigned.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Develop strong professional relationships with vendors and assist them in all operational aspectsCommunicate effectively with vendors, internal Hub departments, and other Hub officesWork with carriers and Account Management to ensure on time performance of customer shipments, providing solutions to resolve problems as neededManage the movement and distribution of available containers within the networkDevelop and execute equipment repositioning plans, and equipment utilization goalsReview Hub Group's system utilizing GPS and reporting, resolving discrepancies as neededUtilize reporting tools to review trends and forecasts to plan and ensure fluid operations within the market / networkWork collaboratively with team members to meet and exceed assigned metrics and goalsManage the execution of projects as assignedMust be a self-starter, and have the ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of the Hub organization, its customers and carriers in a manner that consistently produces resultsKnowledge of various Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Excel and WordCustomer Service / Operations experience preferred but not requiredExcellent communication skills both verbal and writtenExperience in the transportation industry is preferred but not requiredEnrolled in a transportation, logistics, or supply chain undergraduate degree program for the duration of the internshipOur summer internship runs from May 2018 to August 2018. It is 40 hours per week Monday thru Friday.
