Leepfrog Technologies Front-End Web Development Internship (Summer 2018) in Coralville, Iowa


Leepfrog Technologies, Inc. provides its CourseLeaf software to more than 250 of the nation’s most academically complex colleges and universities to manage their academic catalogs, curriculum, section scheduling, and student course search requirements.

The Front-End Developer Intern will support the Front-End Development and Web Design Team with their day-to-day activities and special project(s). This internship will give the intern valuable, real-world experience, as well as providing assistance to the Front-End Development Team. The intern will gain exposure to various development functions during their 10-12 week internship. A successful candidate is eager to learn front-end web design. Quality front-end design relates both to graphic design aspects such as composition, contrast and color theory; and aspects of web development such as responsiveness, user accessibility, and optimization.

The Front-End Development Team works closely with clients designing their catalogs, ensuring it presents all information in a visually appealing manner while also meeting institution branding and accessibility requirements.


  • Create web content based on client standards.

  • Audit web content for accuracy including but not limited to the following categories:

  • Accuracy in the HTML markup and CSS stylesheets.

  • JavaScript and other console errors.

  • Page load times.

  • Responsive web design for mobile and desktop.

  • Build guidelines and templates, and prepares drafts and final editions of documents.

  • Track projects by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.

  • Act as a liaison between internal staff and the Front-End Development Team by appropriately directing questions. Ensure follow-up after answers have been determined.

  • Use discretion to affect timely solution of problems in order to ensure client and internal staff satisfaction.

  • Evaluate processes and make recommendations. Amend and revise processes in order to adapt changes that occur.

  • Maintain outstanding customer service.

  • Adhere to prescribed deadlines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • Technical (not required, but a plus):

  • Knowledge of CSS and HTML, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word, jQuery and JavaScript, and demonstrated knowledge of accessibility standards (Section 508 and/or WCAG).

  • Communication:

Must be pursuing or just completed a 4 year degree program and have a basic understanding of professional communication and documentation. Must be able to respectfully handle highly confidential information. Possess expertise with Windows OS, Microsoft Word & Excel, Firefox, and other computer applications. Customer service skills are required. The ideal candidate must be able to operate in an entrepreneurial, small company environment with the ability to adjust as needed.

Physical Requirements:The Front-End Developer Intern will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers. The Front-End Developer Intern may be located in a busy, open area office, and will be faced with regular interruptions.
