Intern, SPT Networks, Business Affairs Fall 2017

This SPT Networks, Business Affairs group is responsible for providing business and legal support to Sony Pictures' large portfolio of international and domestic television networks. Our department works closely with senior business executives worldwide to structure, negotiate, document and advise on transactions involving program acquisition and production, financing, and distribution of channels in all media, including cable, satellite, Internet and mobile. Additionally, our department advises on regulatory and corporate compliance, intellectual property, marketing, and promotion and advertising issues.

Responsibilities:

The Sony Pictures Television Networks Business Affairs law intern will be working with international and domestic networks and completing many tasks related to the nature of Business Affairs, such as negotiating and drafting deals.

Duties include, but are not limited to, supporting attorneys with licensing agreements, as well as the possibility of analyzing, drafting and negotiating deals under the supervision of an attorney. The intern will be responsible for inputting and updating Business Affairs documentation, such as contracts, deal memos and format agreements, in our database.

Qualifications:

  • The intern must have successfully completed their first year of law school and must be currentlyenrolled as a law student in an ABA accredited law school.

  • Previous work experience in the entertainment industry as well as a basic knowledge ofcopyright law is preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal skills required.

  • Proven ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects.

  • Must be a team player, but also able to work independently.

  • A commitmentof 15-20 hrs/week is expected.

SPE’s Fall Intern 2017 Program is a 12-week part-time program from September 25-December 15, 2017. All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited degree program for the entire duration of their internship and must be available for the full 12-week session.
