Company Overview

DRS Network & Imaging Systems, LLC in Cypress is part of the Electro-Optical and Imaging Systems Group of DRS and has over 30 years of experience in designing and developing electro-optical/infrared systems for surveillance and targeting applications for military customers which includes the United States Army, Marine Corps and Air Force. These systems feature a stabilized turret with laser range finders/ designators, television cameras, bore sighting tools, and other capabilities the customer may desire. The Company is also involved in the development of strategic space systems.

Position Summary

Seeking an Engineering Intern familiar with programmable logic design tools (Altera, Xilinx, Actel, etc) as well as the applicable design languages (VHDL, Verilog). Must have working knowledge of A-D/D-A converters, microcontroller/DSP interface design and associated firmware development (C/C++, Assembly, Scripting Languages), as well as, possess a working knowledge of the Linux Operating System.

Familiarity with schematic capture and printed circuit board layout tools (such as Mentor Graphics and Cadence) is a plus. Familiarity with Apache, MySQL, and Python/Perl along with Linux administration skills is also a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Firmware and script development

  • FPGA Design

  • VHDL Design

  • Linux scripting & MySQL

  • Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments

  • Perform a wide variety of tasks to gain familiarity with the engineering staff, methods, programs and practices

  • Complete assigned tasks on time

  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization

Basic Qualifications

Degree(s) Required: Associate’s Degree or 3rdYear status minimum in an Engineering curriculum. 3.0 min GPA

Degree(s) Preferred: Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
