Internship/co-op for a high school student who is interested in pursuing a degree in the healthcare field such as, health administration, business or public relations.

The internship hours will introduce the applicant into the healthcare workforce and allow them to gain a meaningful understanding of a career in healthcare.

This position will coincide with the teachings of coursework as presented through the high school co-op program to ensure theoretical foundation in addition to the hands-on experience.

Reports to: General Surgery Operations Manager/ AVP Surgery Institute


• Operational orientation in healthcare management

• Assigned project related to hospital administration

• Under direction of department staff, assists with writing and editing projects.

• Performs other duties as assigned

Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and work with others as a member of a team. Demonstrates the ability to work independent of constant supervision.

Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines.

Demonstrates basic computer aptitude including Microsoft Word and Excel programs (Access program literacy beneficial).


Must be enrolled in a student co-op program at high school and interested in pursuing their studies in health administration, public relations, health related field, life or social science, or business. Scope of internship is flexible and can be adjusted according to student’s educational requirements.


Work is typically performed in an office environment.
