About Our Job

The Denver Mayor's Office of Administration is seeking an unpaid, part-time Intern to assist the Director of Boards and Commissions with mayoral boards and commissions, administrative matters, special projects and other related duties and/or responsibilities as assigned or requested. This position is for the Fall of 2017. This opportunity is available from Aug/September 2017 – September 2018. This is a part-time internship requiring 15 – 20 hours per week during normal business hours which are 8:00am – 5:00pm. Hours/schedule are flexible.

The Intern will experience a fast-paced, professional environment specific to mayoral boards, office administration, event planning and special projects and will learn about the Mayor and his initiatives and Denver municipal government, government and public service. The Intern will be trained in formal and informal training sessions and will embarking on new tasks. They will report to the and work closely under the Director of Boards and Commissions and Director of Administration.

As an intern, you will primarily be responsible for:

  • Organizing, tracking, & filing applicants into sales force

  • Communicating and providing updates to candidates on the status of applications

  • Coordinating and scheduling interviews for candidates

  • Providing customer service to applicants by

  • Resolve candidate questions and guiding them through processes

  • Communicating and collaborate with the Director of Boards and Commissions

  • Attending board and commissions meetings under the supervisor of the Director of Board and Commissions

  • Additional administrative projects using MS Office suite as assigned

About You

Our ideal intern will have:

  • A current student seeking a bachelors or master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field

  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Previous experience with event planning/coordination

  • The ability to communicate and work with others
