The EHS intern will work closely with EHS professional staff to maintain critical department records, prepare tracking data for publication and distribute necessary reports to US and world-wide recipients. The intern will also update and manage electronic forms under the direction of the Safety Engineer, support MyKemin training entries and perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
The intern will maintain the Contractor Database under the direction of the Safety Engineer, and may be asked to support special projects, including environmental efforts, commensurate with education, aptitude and departmental needs.
Job responsibilities include:
Learning the processes related to compliance recordkeeping for the department.
Accurately entering data and verifying that data are correct.
Updating US and world-wide reports created in the Excel application and distributing those reports as directed.
Participating in department meetings in order to increase understanding of department operations and needs.
Prepare a PowerPoint presentation on the work completed during the internship.
Participate in a number of intern specific activities/trainings throughout the course of the internship.
The intern in this position shall be detail oriented, reliable, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
Course work in environmental, safety, or the natural sciences at the college level is preferred.
Familiarity with MS Excel, databases, word documents, etc. is required.
Aptitude for learning proprietary database processes is preferred.
Ability to interact in a professional manner with wide variety of individuals at all levels within the company (Quality, R&D, Customer Service, Marketing, Finance, Operations).

Working Conditions:The position is based at Kemin Industries in Des Moines, Iowa. The non-exempt position is considered to be 40 hours per week, but requires flexibility.
