Purpose

Accounting provides a unique snapshot into Newmont’s culture, operations, and financial performance through governance, external and internal reporting. The primary goal of Accounting is to govern compliance with U.S GAAP standards and report results to Newmont’s executive leadership team and shareholders. The work is dynamic and fast paced and requires a keen eye for detail. As an intern, you will help develop the company’s 10-Q SEC document and develop process improvements across the department.

Interns in our Denver program have the opportunity to work at the corporate headquarters of a Fortune 500 company and get exposure to a variety of corporate departments.

Essential Duties

Scope

The internship will ideally be from May 2018 – August 2018. The exact dates are flexible depending on the student’s availability. It is assumed that the internship will be fulltime (40 hours/week) during the summer. Interns will receive a stipend.

Possible Duties:

  • Assist with quarter-end close responsibilities including 10-Q reporting

  • Design and develop enhanced web-site for improved communication between corporate and regions

  • Assist in creating PowerPoints for internal management meetings

  • Fulfill ad-hoc projects and leadership data requests

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all-inclusive.

Training & Experience

  • MBA, MS Finance or MS Accounting students preferred (3.0 GPA or above)

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong understanding of financial accounting

  • Knowledge of web-based applications a plus

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills

This is a full time internship for the summer of 2018 that will take place at the Newmont Corporate Headquarters in Greenwood Village, CO.
