Open Until Filled Yes Educational and Experience Requirement Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy or related field. No postdoctoral experience required. Experience working on programs/projects related to academic discipline while obtaining Ph.D. would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Nature & Purpose of Position Works on a nationally highlighted Homeland Security project, funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Army, on developing therapeutic agents to treat cyanide intoxication. Works under the direction of the Project Director. Performs specific duties pertaining to research activities, special projects, and educational programs. Provides advanced professional work which may require the development of new or improved techniques and procedures with latitude for independent action and decision. Primary Responsibilities Plans, directs, supervises, and participates in the grant project. Performs basic or applied research in an area of considerable scope and complexity. Prepares research results for publication reports, papers, journals, and books. Performs data and statistical analysis. Prepares seminars and talks for students at lab meetings. Supervises research staff and graduate students to carry out goals and objectives. Manages lab and helps with publications. Participates in drug analysis (GC/MS, HPLC, Zeta-Sizer), drug formulation (liposomal, micellar)/solubility studies. Performs in vitro and in vivo efficacy, acute toxicity and pharmacokinetics, and organ distribution studies. Works in collaboration or independently with grant proposals. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Requires the skill to perform independent research activities and supervise other research personnel. Requires advanced knowledge in a field of science or learning and consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. Require contacts with faculty, staff, other university departments, state and federal agencies, other researchers, and outside vendors. Should have published experience in Blood Brain Barrier Penetration (in vitro/in vivo models, cell line, Pampa). Position will work with toxic chemicals, mice and rats under safety controls. This is a grant funded position that will begin October 1, 2017. Continuation of the position is contingent upon continued funding.
