Job Description

Job Summary:

Performs basic patient care activities to patients in assigned area.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with treatments ordered by physician and supervised by a Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.

  • Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

  • Assists with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly.

  • Responsible for documenting patient information and supporting unit operations. Assists with implementing and monitoring patient care plans. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.

  • Assists with noting and carrying out physician and nursing orders within scope of authorized practice.

  • Completes assigned nursing orders as directed by preceptor. Documents and reports observations to preceptor or other appropriate staff.

  • Performs other tasks as assigned and within scope of authorized practice.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Current Florida Department of Health Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) licensure preferred; or National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN or higher)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Work Experience:

  • No experience required.
