The Indian Health Services (IHS) provides leadership and direction to programs and activities designed to improve the health services for over 1.9 million American Indian/Alaska Native people through a system of IHS, Tribal and Urban operated facilities and programs. - Uses word processing software and printing equipment to create and edit a variety of documents, such as, memorandums, letters, reports, etc. Prepares materials in draft; however, frequently the incumbent prepares materials in final form.
- Is required to use good judgment in spacing and arrangement, correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling and knowledge of proper formats.
- Files materials such as letters, memorandums, incoming and signed documents, pertinent background information, and other materials associated with the office's operations.
- Photocopies and/or scanning materials for mass mailings, internal distribution, filings, etc
- Receives visitors and answers the telephone, receives and relays messages in a pleasant, friendly, coherent manner. Incumbent responds to inquiries/issues of a routine nature.

What are the Eligibility Requirements? In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program: You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree, GED, or certificate program on a full- or half-time basis as defined by the school (certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum); Enrollment is with a qualifying educational institution such as a high school or state-approved home school; or accredited technical or vocational school; a 2- or 4-year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum; and Students currently enrolled must be in good academic standing, maintaining a 2.0 grade point average on a cumulative basis. You must continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout the duration of your appointment under the Pathways Internship Program. You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements for the position by the closing date of the announcement. You are required to show proof of enrollment in a qualified degree/diploma program by the closing of this announcement. Failure to provide adequate scholastic documentation within the specified timeframe will disqualify you from further consideration.
What are the Eligibility Requirements? As an Administrative & Office Support, Pathways Intern, he/she will perform the following job duties:
- Filing and scanning documents for mailing and internal distribution
- Receives visitors and answers the telephone
- Prepare and edit spreadsheets
- Create, edit, cut and paste a variety of documents utilizing Microsoft Word
- Other duties as assigned
Temporary appointments may be extended without further competition. An agency may convert an Intern non-competitively from the Internship Program to a term or permanent position in the competitive service provided that all the terms of section 5 CFR 362.204 are met and there is an available position. However, conversion is not mandatory or guaranteed. U.S. citizenship is required to be eligible for conversion. This Internship is for students who can commit to working year-round.
