The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA), is seeking a motivated Information Technology Trainee/Intern to join our team to provide customer support within the Technical Services unit of Management Services Division (MSD) for Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) and Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) staff at Headquarters (HQ). This permanent position is located in Lacey, WA.

This position is responsible for assistance in supporting and troubleshooting the HQ, ALTSA and DDA systems and network resources at HQ. Assists in ensuring availability and integrity of mission-critical systems supporting the diverse business needs, various facilities and multiple computing environments Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) and Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA).

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Install and configure hardware such as computers, monitors, mice, keyboards, printers, FAX machines, switches, Wireless Access Points, Wireless extenders.
  • Install and configure software such as Microsoft Windows, MS Office, Linux, CARE, TIVA, FMS, PASRR, CASIR, IR, QANS, QA, APS Intake.
  • Report emerging trend findings.
  • Document resolutions to issues in Administration's Helpdesk system.
  • Audit IT resources as directed.
  • Track inventory using designated service management software.
  • Deploy agency hardware and software.
  • Support Wireless Devices for Administrations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who should apply?

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent AND proficiency in information technology gained through experience or training in a computer technology such as: word-processing, spreadsheet software, database programs, hardware installation, programming, web authoring tools, graphic design, etc.

OR

Students of accredited colleges who have completed their freshman year or are currently enrolled in a vocational program in the information technology field.

Desired Experience and Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of network protocols
  • Working knowledge of basic physical computer components and architectures, including the functions of various components and peripherals
