WHAT YOU WILL DO Job Description Department summary - The purpose of the Research and Development team is to lead the development and management of products for Post Consumer Brands. This position is responsible for identification of new opportunities, formulation, cross-functional communication and collaboration, testing and commercialization of new products, reformulations and other product based opportunities. Responsibilities * To further support your future career in Product Development, you will be able to participate and be involved in the following: * Apply standard scientific techniques in the analysis of production lines from raw materials to finished packages to provide safe and efficient manufacturing systems that meet quality, food safety, environmental, and cost expectations. * Support the identification and solution of cost savings issues, product/packaging change issues, equipment modifications, manufacturability issues, etc., using appropriate scientific principles. * Work on the development and implementation of long-term improvement programs tied to rates, efficiencies, yields, and costs of manufacturing systems. * Provide technical support to production for product modifications, process improvements, and process troubleshooting. * Initiate, implement, and cost justify equipment and system modifications to production lines in response to performance and product quality issues. * Help develop new products and improvements to existing products. Assure that product activities meet company cost capacity, quality, marketing and product development requirements. * Provide design and processing parameters inputs for new products, capacity improvements, and equipment design. Examples of Potential Products would include flavor/line extensions of existing products, new product technologies including the addition of functional ingredients to products, and new to market innovations. The activities and duties are dependent on the area of assignment and may vary based on location. Activities may include the following: * Bench top product development and prototyping * Use of a fully operational pilot facility for prototype development * Collaboration with cross-functional business partners including Marketing, Business Leadership Group, Operations and Quality and Food Safety. * Manufacturing Plant testing support * Travel to manufacturing locations across the United States * Use and implementation of statistical data collection and analysis Other activities as assigned WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR The qualified, successful candidate will possess the following: Education: Requires completion of at least 3 of 4 years of an accredited Chemical Engineering or Food Science Curriculum.
