Compensation

Transit Railcar Technology Specialist Intern: $55,039 - $57,958

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Support Group (Workscopes & Standards, Special Projects, Material Standards & Parts Catalog, Methods & Procedures, and work Car SMS) work as a team to support the Scheduled Maintenance System (SMS), material standards and NYCT's subway fleet. TRTS Intern is an entry level position where the incumbent will assist other analysts and engineers in the development of the Scheduled Maintenance System (SMS) Component Plan, review/write manuals, conducts teardowns and provide engineering technical support to various shops and departments. The incumbent, along with his/her mentors, will work closely with Car Builders, Material Inspectors, Storeroom Personnel, Logistics, Procurement and Manufacturers to resolve problems and keep the procedures up to date. The selected candidate will use In-Design, FrameMaker and RSMIS-Spear to monitor and track installation of repaired and upgraded subway car components.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major sequence of courses in electrical, mechanical, civil, transportation or computer engineering or electrical/electronic technology.

Desired Skills

Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Proficient in Excel or similar databased applications and Microsoft Office.

Proficient in using various measurement techniques and tools.

Ability to read technical drawings and documentation.

Selection Method

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience and interview.

All appointments, with the exception of Department of Subways employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.

As an employee of MTA-NYC Transit, you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the State of New York, if your position earns more than $91,821 (this figure is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
