The Assistant Accountant is the entry level position in the Accountants job family. They operate at a country level, taking their guidance from the Financial Accountant and dealing with low complexity accounts.

Their primary goal is to assist with the provision of various accounting, administrative and clerical services that will the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.

What you'll be doing

Process payments

Assists with the day to day processing of payments to ensure that Dimension Data accounts payable transactions are maintained in an effective manner. They review invoices and checks requests, sorting and matching them and ensuring that all the information appearing on them are accurate and complete. Once these requests have been reviewed, the Support Accounts Payable Clerk prepares invoices for payments and processes checks requests, wire transfers and electronic fund transfer payments. These individuals code documents according to the relevant accounting processes and procedures.

Account administration

Assists with the monitoring of accounts and the tracking of transactions to ensure that payments are up to date. They check figures, postings and documents to ensure that they are correct and accurate. They assist with ensuring that account information is corrected and that errors are noted in preparation for accounting procedures.

Query management

Assists the team by dealing with vendors and responding to queries related to accounts. They assist with the resolution of invoice discrepancies and escalate more complex queries to the Support accountant.

General administration

Assists with the creation and maintenance of client and vendor records. They assist with the preparation of monthly reports and assist with month end closing. They assist with ensuring that expenses are recorded for tax payment purposes.

The Assistant Accountant displays good planning and organising ability and demonstrates good attention to detail. Also is a proactive individual who has good interpersonal and effective communication skills. They display the required level of honesty and integrity when dealing with confidential information. They are organised individuals who have good attention to detail and display good problem solving ability

Requirements:

Education

· General Accounting High School Diploma

Work Experience

· 1 – 2 years’ working experience,

· At least 1 year working experience in a related field

Skills and knowledge

· Good communication skills (written and verbal)

· Good interpersonal skills

· Display good problem solving ability

· Display the required level of honesty and integrity
