Tenneco is seeking a driven, self-motivated student who has an interest in gaining hands-on experience in the area of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) while working at our fast paced Clean Air Manufacturing Center located inSeward, Nebraskabeginning inJanuary 2018.


This PAID internship requires a student who is willing and able to participate in the internship during the current academic year (January 2018 - May 2018). The duration of the internship is subject to business need and the work performance of the intern selected for the opportunity.

TheClean Air Manufacturing EHS Internrole supports manufacturing engineering and provides the incumbent the opportunity to interact with engineers, engineering and manufacturing leaders, project leaders, technicians, and cross-functional project stakeholders during the internship assignment.

As aClean Air Manufacturing EHS InternYOU will:

  • Be assigned a Mentor to guide, support and coach you throughout your internship experience at Tenneco.

  • Gain experience learning about OSHA requirements for machine guarding on a wide variety of machine types.

  • Become familiar with Pollution Prevention and Reduction Efforts at Tenneco.

  • Gain exposure and experience with EHS data management systems and overall EHS compliance related activities in a manufacturing environment.

Required Skills

  • Must be able to work independently and in a Team based environment.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective time management skills.

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Required Experience


  • Student currently enrolled and pursuing an undergraduate degree in safety, biology, engineering science, industrial hygiene or environmental engineering at an accredited institution.

  • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

  • Ability to work at least 30 hours per week during the internship period starting in January 2018.

  • Student who resides within a commutable distance of the job site (Seward, Nebraska).

  • Ability to provide own transportation to/from the job site (Seward, Nebraska).

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.


  • Student pursuing an undergraduate degree with an expected graduation date between May 2018 and December 2019.

  • Student with a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
