Overview

The Structural Engineering Intern works on structural engineering projects from the quote stage to final engineering. Typical projects include the design and installation of industrial steel storage rack, structural steel platforms, conveyor support structures, shelving, elevated walkways, and custom designed products in large distribution centers.

Responsibilities

  • Performs analysis and design of new structures and modifications to existing storage equipment

  • Helps the Sales team to develop proposals and presentations

  • Creates approval, permit, and installation drawings using AutoCAD

  • Obtains material and product quotes from vendors and issues purchase orders

  • Monitors project schedule and costs

Qualifications

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

  • Previous engineering or construction experience a plus

  • Proficient in AutoCAD; working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment

  • Ability to learn the material handling business and assist across teams and divisions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Strong team orientation

  • Ability to learn new technology
