Who we are
We’re Population Services International (better known as “PSI”), a global health non-profit. We aim to make it easier for people in the developing world to be healthy by marketing affordable health products and services (think mosquito nets, condoms, HIV testing and more). Though contested by other program departments, the LAC team is clearly the best at PSI. LAC is known as the “innovation lab,” a place where exciting new ideas in global health are tested. Currently, we have programs operating in The Caribbean (ex. The Dominican Republic, Haiti, Trinidad & Tobago), Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, and Paraguay. This is a 6-month internship opportunity.
YOU WILL…Always be doing something different every day! Some examples include:
Research health topics and write literature reviews for country offices
Liaise with staff in country offices for various tasks as needed
Edit, format, and/or translate reports and presentations;
Assist in proposal writing and editing;
Assist with travel arrangements and expense report preparation;
Respond to internal and external requests for information;
Assist with management and organization of donor programmatic and financial deliverables;
Assist in creation of communications materials, including one pagers and presentations;
Assist with website/SharePoint updates and revisions as necessary; and
Fulfill other programmatic and administrative functions as required.
What are we looking for?
Education: BA or other in a related area of study preferred.
Language: You are highly proficient in Spanish. Seriously, we’re going to interview you in Spanish. If you also speak French, then we really want to talk to you.
Communication: You write beautifully, your distinguished narrative style brings us to tears. You feel comfortable speaking up when you have something important to say, and you’re great about proactively reaching out to others to offer your support.
Tech Savviness: Advanced computer skills (Wiki editing, Adobe Suite, MS Office).
Experience: This isn’t your first job and you’ve had exposure to a fast-paced office environment.
Analytic: You enjoy tackling problems and aren’t afraid to propose solutions. It would be super cool if you’ve got experience in financial analysis too.
Initiative: You don’t wait to be told what to do. You see a need and you meet it, you’re bold.
