Job Description With questions or for more information about the State of Michigan Internship Program, please visit: State of Michigan Internship Program Overview em*Accepting Applications for the Fall 2018 Semesters/em Preferred skills include: liExceptional written and verbal communication./li liUnderstanding of social media technology, resources and tools./li liAbility to use good judgment when posting content to media resources./li liBasic knowledge of using marketing for promotional purposes./li liUnderstanding of HTML, SharePoint and website design./li /ul The Communications Intern will be working within the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Communications with the following projects and responsibilities: liAssist with drafting press releases/li liAssist with event preparations, speaking engagements, invitations, scheduling, etc./li liAssist with public internet website and internal (SharePoint) intranet site./li liVarious desktop publishing and graphic design projects including website design, flyers, certificates, event materials etc./li liConduct research and outreach for internal communications/li liShadowing pitches/li liAssist with updating media lists/li /ul Note: **Past interns have received full-time, paid employment with public relations jobs in state government and top-notch public relations firms shortly after completing their internship. Required Education and Experience At the time of the internship, students must be enrolled in a undergraduate or graduate program majoring in Communications, Journalism, English, Media, Liberal Arts, Information Technology, Marketing or similar major.
