Bayer Graphic Design Intern in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Your tasks and responsibilities
Assist graphic arts professionals in the execution of graphic design and print production with the intent of meeting specific marketing and communications goals, such as business systems, brochures, packaging, display panels and banners, or logos. A variety of mediums will be used to achieve the desired end result.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Graphic Design Intern, are to:
Participate during client engagement meetings with the intent to develop a working creative brief;
Work through the creative process with a graphic design professional to develop concepts, and designs for the purpose of meeting client’s communication goals. Those goals could include finished products related to:
Interior Design (Corporate Brand Image)
Electronic media (web banners, ads, infographics and email-blasts)
Point-of-sale fliers, brochures, training materials, newsletters
Logo’s, event icons
Large format posters and signage
Utilize Adobe’s Creative Suite of applications to execute concepts and designs into finished layouts for the purpose of print production. The incumbent will work directly with professional artists and pressmen to learn critical print specifications:
Use of bleeds and printer marks
Readers spreads vs. printer spreads
Appropriate Acrobat profiles for press-ready production
ISO standards for printing
FSC regulations as they relate to print production
Work with print professionals to provide pre-press support by preflighting the integrity of client submitted press-ready print files. The incumbent will need to evaluate the files against print specifications previously noted.
Learn how to interact with print servers for the purpose of printing large format media including:
Foam board, sintra, metal, and coraplast posters and signage
Paper, vinyl, canvas and vinyl cling banners and posters
Production will include finishing techniques including:
Insertion in mechanical cassettes
Packaging for shipping

Current enrollment in an Associate or Bachelor’s degree program in the field of Graphic Design or related field and should be nearing the completion of degree, having completed all pre-requisites;
Must have working knowledge of Apple’s iOS as well as Windows 10 operating system;
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Adobe’s Creative Suite of applications as well as Acrobat DC;
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications;
Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.
