This position will support the Quality Assurance and R&D Teams and interact with every aspect of our production process. The Intern will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience related to the Food Product Development/Manufacturing process. Knowledge will be obtained by participating in product development, product analysis, and on the floor manufacturing within a thriving and rapidly growing Food Production Environment. Team member will work cross functionally with Quality Assurance and R&D. The scope of the role may include the following: Lead or assist the Culinary/R&D team in the development of new products, based on business priorities Support manufacturing trials and start-ups by validating procedures and specifications to ensure successful scale up from the benchtop to the plant Execute product evaluation, shelf life, and/or sensory studies. Assist in the development of a sensory evaluation program. Explore new ingredient technology/needs to support innovation projects Support Culinary/R&D/Quality Assurance teams on customer sample requests, data collection, and other project needs The Intern will be assigned a summer project to manage and complete. They will also be given the opportunity to pick a secondary project of interest that meets business needs and will work collaboratively with the Quality Manager or Quality Specialist. Other tasks supporting Quality/Production/ Approved Vendor/ Receiving and Shipping will be given throughout the internship. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Competencies & Knowledge: Candidate must be completing either their sophomore or junior year at an accredited university while working towards a Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering or Biology. Candidate must be in good standing at their College or University as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student. Basic understanding of Ingredient Technology Ability to create and execute a project plan and/or design of experiments based on a defined objective. Analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work well independently and with diverse multicultural team members Strong oral, written, and communication skills Food Manufacturing, SQF, HACCP, and GMPs. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite - especially Excel. Willingness to roll up sleeves and perform a variety of tasks necessary to support the organization. Proven leadership skills. Strong analytical thinking skills and quick acclimation to systems. Ability to: Work 40 hours per week during the summer months. Work in a cold environment - 37 degrees keeps our ingredients fresh.
