The Environmental Intern is a temporary developmental position assisting in department projects to maintain compliance with environmental permits, perform data analysis and other related environmental requirements. Key Responsibilities * Assist department personnel in providing technical support and ownership of environmental programs including NPDES, SPCC, continuous stack emissions monitoring, ambient air and meteorological monitoring, waste disposal, radiation, recycling and environmental training and communication. * Assist department personnel in performing inspections and testing to monitor operation of equipment and processes. * Assist in the environmental permitting process. * Assist writing environmental reports and analyses. * Learn applicable environmental regulations and requirements. * Other developmental projects as assigned. The Environmental Science intern works May-Aug 2018 during normal business hours primarily in an office environment. The Environmental Science intern may also need to work outside normal business hours depending on project needs. In addition, the Environmental Science Intern will occasionally work in the field visiting substations, power plants, transmission, monitoring locations, transmission distribution sites, and other office locations. Education Requirements Status as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Master's student status in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology, Engineering, Meteorology or related environmental field from an accredited college or university required. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
